From Donald St to South Terrace

It was sad to say goodbye to our little studio recently. What started out as mat based studio for a few passionate locals turned into a bustling reformer studio. Out kitschy little space did its best, but after months of bursting at the seams I knew it was time to find a new home for us.

Space is hard to come by in a small town. Lucky for me, the local uniform shop decided to co-locate at the school, leaving a space that was not too big, not too small, but just right for us.

Donald St was the perfect launching pad for me. The risk was relatively low, and the neighbours were fabulous. Even though it was only 12 months, I did manage to overhaul the space somewhat. It will only be the OG members that remember the sink up the back and lino flooring. Try as I might to add some sparkle to the space, it just became unworkable once we had the reformers in the space. I have ruined many pairs of shows and have collected quite a few bruises from bumping into the reformers over the months.

The timing feels perfect to move into our new space. To look at it, it’s hard to imagine how on earth we managed to fit 5 reformers into such a small space.

I am super excited to be writing this somewhat wafty blogpost from our upcycled reception desk. There are a few things to do before we have a party in a few weeks, but for now, I am just happy to bust out a few moves that we needed a bigger space for.
